Many hotel & restaurant operators are rapidly adapting to these using the QR or Bar Codes. How does this help the operations? Here goes-you scan this QR or a Bar code (presuming everyone has some smart phone & a QR or a Bar code reader application) much in advance- the hotels website, or when checking in or on each table there is a tent card displaying this. This helps the Operator or wait staff to stop printing expensive Menus, saves the wait staff fatigue (reaching out to every customer can be tiring) & time which can be productively used to speed up service & bussing. How to use the contact-less menus instructions can be a small, animated GIF or video putting the technically challenged at ease.

The Restaurants & Hotel Brands have stayed in a comfort zone where the advent of machine learning, artificial intelligence or using IOT (Internet of Things) have always taken a back seat.

Now imagine an expensive coffee machine or a dish-washing machine or a Combi oven about to fail sends a signal (more like “ET Phone home”) to its manufacturer and/or to the distributor that preventive maintenance is urgently required & before the busy operator calls there appears the service genie with the required spare part to repair the machine/clean the machine/or just run important diagnostics. Impossible? No, it is happening & trust us its being seriously considered by the manufacturers who have a reputation to protect & look forward to repeat orders.
